Having spent years in several management positions, the challenges are only increasing. Geriatricians are finally poised to be in the absolutely right position to benefit. Payors, medicare and the like are not paying hospitals for SREs (serious reportable events). So, geriatric health care is now important economically for hospitals, health plans, etc.

One tidbit from a recent incident in a hospital in our region was a pt fall resulting in an injury from one of those new Snuggies. If you've seen people attempting to walk with them...they are dangerous. So, all hospitals, nursing facilities should write policies banning them to prevent such an event.

Good luck to all

Snuggies? What are snuggies? There are lots of loopholes and roadblocks and cracks where things just fall through in our medical system. Medicare should be paying for those, but are they just not doing it or are they missing them? medical silicone
